Terms of Service

Last updated: April 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the HeatPumpVsBoilerwebsite and installer-matching service ("Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

What we are — and what we are not

HeatPumpVsBoiler is an installer-matching service. We are not an installer. We do not perform heat-loss surveys or installations, and we do not employ, supervise, or control any installer. We facilitate introductions between UK homeowners and independently owned, MCS-certified heat pump installers who may serve their area.

No endorsement or guarantee

While we apply reasonable screening criteria (MCS certification, ICO registration, public liability insurance) when admitting installers to our network, we do not endorseany specific installer and make no representations or warranties about the quality, timeliness, pricing, warranty terms, or workmanship of any installer's services. The installer you hire is solely responsible for the work performed. You are responsible for independently evaluating any installer, verifying their MCS certification at mcscertified.com, requesting written quotes and warranties, and satisfying yourself before authorising any work.

BUS grant disclaimer

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is administered by Ofgem. Grant amounts, eligibility criteria, and the scheme's ongoing availability are subject to change at the discretion of the UK government and Ofgem. We provide information based on the published rules at the time of writing; we cannot guarantee that you will be approved for the grant or that the grant amount you see quoted will be the amount paid by the time your installation completes. Always check gov.uk for the latest official terms.

Free quotes and survey fees

Free written quotes are standard across our installer network, and most installers also offer free heat-loss surveys. However, some complex retrofit cases may require a paid heat-loss calculation — in those cases, the installer will inform you of any fee before scheduling. We do not control installer pricing or fee policies.

No professional advice

Content on this website — including educational articles, cost ranges, payback estimates, and grant explanations — is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute engineering, legal, financial, tax, or insurance advice. For advice specific to your property, consult a registered MCS installer, a chartered surveyor, or a qualified financial adviser.

Your responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate information when submitting a request, to use the Service only for legitimate property enquiries, and to comply with all applicable UK laws. You acknowledge that submitting a request gives the installer(s) we match you with consent (under PECR) to contact you by phone, SMS and email.

Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by English law, HeatPumpVsBoiler shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, arising from or in connection with: (a) your use of the Service; (b) any services performed or not performed by any installer; (c) any dispute between you and an installer; or (d) any property damage, personal injury, or financial loss arising from installation work. Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed one hundred pounds (£100). Nothing in these Terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless HeatPumpVsBoiler, its affiliates, and its service providers from any claim, loss, or expense arising from your use of the Service, your contract or interaction with any installer, or your breach of these Terms.

Intellectual property

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and software — is the property of HeatPumpVsBoiler or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written permission.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where applicable consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
